Our Advanced Technology

An overview of some of the key tools we use to evaluate your current dental health and identify any problems that need to be addressed.

CariVu

CariVu helps us detect tooth decay in its earliest stages, when it may still be treated in non-invasive ways. We simply use the hand-held device to bathe each tooth in safe, near-infrared light, which lets us actually see through the tooth, exposing its structure, as well as that of any carious lesions. It’s highly accurate and one of the best technologies available for monitoring decay.

Ortek-ECD

This device helps us diagnose early decay in the pits and fissures of a tooth’s biting surfaces by measuring the conductivity of the enamel. Using no ioninzing radiation, the Ortek-ECD lets us know if decay is limited to the enamel, has reached into the softer dentin it protects, or if a suspected lesion is only stain.

NOMAD Pro 2 Digital X-rays

When x-rays are needed to help with diagnosis, this hand-held device makes it quicker and easier than ever to get high quality images. It also minimizes radiation exposure for patients and dental staff alike. In fact, the exposure from using the NOMAD Pro 2 is less than one percent of allowed occupational doses.

Tekscan

How your bite comes together can affect how you feel. Tekscan is an imaging system that shows if your teeth come together in a balanced, harmonious way or if there’s an imbalance of force when you close your jaw. Once that pattern is established, we can provide a custom solution to correct the imbalance.

joint vibrational analysis

Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA)

JVA is a digital screening tool to evaluate your temporomandibular joints (TMJ). This device records the vibrations that emanate from the joints and gives a quick assessment of their health.

Electromyography (EMG)

EMG is a digital tool that measures activity in the chewing muscles and can be used to assess functional issues such as chewing and biting or clenching and bruxing. Electrodes placed on the skin are used to gauge muscle activity. This data can be combined with that from Tekscan and JVA to help balance the bite. When we adjust the bite, we often see hyperactive muscles calm down immediately and abnormal joint vibrations improve.
